Geocache Description:

This cache is the first of a series of forty-six caches hidden in Kings Wood.

All are placed in accordance with the formal Landowner agreement between Geocaching and the Forestry Commission. As part of that agreement all caches has been placed either on the path, or not more than a step or two off of the paths. Please follow the paths from cache to cache and do not go marching through the trees

You can’t mistake where the paths go – after the third cache all paths are at least two yards wide at the narrowest point up until the last cache

It can get a tad muddy in places…

NO CACHES ARE AT THE POSTED CO-ORDINATES. DO NOT GO THERE

Each cache is found by solving a simple puzzle

Each cache description tells you that puzzle

Sorry if you don’t like puzzles

Most of the caches are pots big enough for small geo-swag but there are some which are are bigger than the others

And so for this cache…

Can you believe the car park has a phone number? It is ABAA ACD EFAA

This cache is at

North F (F/F) (F/F)(C/B) . (E+E) (E+F) F

East AAA FB . (E+F) )(E+F) (F-E)

The landowner (Forestry Commission East England) does not assess the suitability or safety of the cache location. The cache placer and the cache finder have a responsibility to take reasonable precautions to protect their own safety and the safety of others. Hazards observed at or on route to the cache location should be reported to the cache owner. The Cache has been placed in accordance with the Forestry Commission East England agreement

A word about co-ordinates

(if I may...)

We've measured the co-ords of each cache several times on three seperate occasions using two different devices.

If you feel the co-ordinates of any of the caches are a tad awry please have a look at the previous logs.

If others say the co-ords are out, please send us your co-ords so we can update.

If others say the co-ords are good then just maybe your GPS might need a tweak?

A little disclaimer

(if we may...)

Just in case you've not done any of our caches before... they are all there to be found. Our hides really are a small pot under a rock every tenth of a mile. If you can't find it witin a minute or so, it has probably gone. This walk is all about the woods.

The Wherigos

(if you are going to do them...)

In these woods are seven series of Wherigos in which one cartridge leads you to several geocaches as you play.

There are also six “stand-alone” Wherigos in which you play a little game then get given the final location of one geocache

You’d really be best advised NOT to do them at the same time as this puzzle series. It would be a serious diversion. Come back anther day.

A little heads-up... the cheat websites aren't very good with our cartridges as one cartridge takes you to several final locations and that confuses the cheat websites. If you use them and can't find the cache please don't log a DNF as you are probably in the wrong place...

Shouldn't have to say that, should we...
